Turn your sale of scrap into a Carbon offsetting investment
I have for a while now been thinking how to take small to medium businesses down the road of becoming more aware of the impact that they have on the environment. There are a number of issues that you come across when you talk to them. Mostly they do not know where to start, they feel that they cannot afford to make huge investments and finally how to educate themselves on the impact they are really having.
I then started to think, imagine if you could get them simply to start to think about the issue of greening their businesses. Maybe there are organisations, where they can begin off setting their impact through donations. I am happy to say that I have found “Food and Trees for Africa”, which have developed a number of initiatives that businesses can support.
Importantly for me is that you do not have to be a huge business to do this. They have membership programmes catering from individuals right through to the large corporates. Reading the options and you can do so by clicking on the link (Food and Trees for Africa) you can have a look at a number of projects and options.
I have therfore set myself the challenge, as I am doing by the title of this post, to see if I can get the company that I work for to make the step of buying a corporate membership for $ 3800.00. My proposal will be for our company to use some of the income we generate from the sale of our scrap, to fund this purchase. Hopefully this will materialise and then we can start on the road to a greener environment.
