The Running Commentary

You’re the voice

I had a bit of an Eighties vibe going this morning and spent the time travelling into the office listening to some Eighties music.  One of the songs on my playlist was You’re the Voice by John Farnham.  I noticed, not for the first time but perhaps due to the approaching local elections, that the lyrics of this song are actually quite pertinent, even today. So I thought I would put them down with a particular emphasis on the fact that by voting maybe we can make our collective voices heard.

If you don’t know the song Google it and take a listen, good music and nice lyrics

You’re the Voice Lyrics:

We have the chance to
turn the pages over
We can write what we wanna write
We gotta make ends meet
before we get much older
We’re all someone’s daughter
We’re all someone’s son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?

[Chorus:]
You’re the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
(Oh Oh Oh Ohooooh)
(Oh Oh Oh Oh Ohooooh)

We’re not gonna sit in silence
We’re not gonna live with fear

This time, you know that we
all can stand together
With the power to be powerful
Believing, we can make it better
We’re all someone’s daughter
We’re all someone’s son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?

[Chorus:]

We’re all someone’s daughter
We’re all someone’s son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?

Have fun out there folks!
