Nokia N8 interest pricked

Just retuned back from a half hour introduction the new Nokia N8.  This is not a review just a quick fire post saying that I like it……. a lot!

I was invited to spend sometime with the folks from Nokia SA and they took me through some of the features. As you all know mine is strictly a man in the street viewpoint.  Also, as you all know I love my Apple iPhone 3GS.

It appears that they have checked quite a few boxes and have delivered on a number of the issues that I have had with their latest offerings.  Careful to point out that they build different models to suite different needs, I have been critical that this causes cross model envy.  I like to feel that I have a phone that can deliver most, if not all of my needs, both from a business as well as personal point of view.

I think, and when I get the review model in October, I will be able to confirm that they have made some great strides. My initial assessment is that this phone will delight many people, the multimedia capabilities appear awesome. Certainly the improved user interface is great.

I also heard some great changes coming for their OVI store and am certain that these will have a really positive impact on their community. 

So, and they really don’t need me for this, I think that this phone may be a real success. The costing for those interested is really affordable at something of the order of R 6000.00.  They are though bundling with data packages so this is going to make it really attractive and I think will offer a huge consideration for those in the market.

From a man in the street point of view, you have just about everything you could need and maybe just maybe October will see me swop out my beloved iPhone.  Certainly I will be delaying my decision around purchasing the iPhone 4 for the time being.
