Customer Service Please……

call centreI travelled this morning to Johannesburg and was astounded by the poor level of customer service received from each of the organisations that I had contact with.  In fact the friendliest interaction I had was with the automated flight check-in, which at least said welcome.  I flew SAA, where not one of the crew greeted me or once asked me how I was feeling. I arrived at OR Thambo and collected my car from Imperial.  These guys make attempt with one person at the door saying “Welcome to Imperial and how are you?” my reply was “I am fine and how are you?” nothing was said in return.  If you do not intend responding then do not say anything in the first place.  The guy at the counter looked most hacked that I in fact was collecting my car, although he did go to great lengths to tell me he was upgrading me.  I have found out that the reason for this was due to them not having any cars available in the group that I had booked.

My main gripe is that in this day and age the one thing that can successfully differentiate you from your opposition are you staff.  They should be courteous, respectful and friendly at all times.  If they do not want to be there then move them onto a function where they will not harm you image.
