My 100th post
This marks my 100th post and I have thought long and hard about what it should be about. So here goes………..A huge thanks to Adii who introduced to me the world of blogging, this has provided me with a vehicle, for the most part, just to vent about an issue. I get to test how other people react to comments and then build my thoughts sometimes taking from comments made.
I am amazed at just how far I have come, how my thoughts on issues have either been enhanced or challenged.
I have discovered people and things that I did not know existed, during my research into issues. I have come across some true thought leaders who drive and shape whole countries, industries and ideals. I have been inspired by the talks on TED, some of which I will post in the near future.
I have had occasion to cross swords (sometimes not on my blog, but privately -emails in the most) with people who did not want to discuss an issue in open forum. I am hoping that these folks will start to contribute to the posts so that other people can either support or disagree with them.
I have learned to handle arguments / discussions with a lot more flare and have discovered that some people truly do not believe what they say. They merely follow a popular viewpoint, that they try to back up with “facts”. A discussion devoid of passion based only on fact is boring, a passionate argument devoid of fact is equally fruitless.
I am encouraged by our country South Africa and what it has to offer. I am mindful that we have people in very powerful and influential positions that appear to abuse their privileged position. We have a huge world of experience that we can tap into and learn from.
In short the post is about how blogging has challenged me, changed me and led me to understand exactly how I feel about issues. I feel that this vehicle has enabled me to grow.
To quote from a Huletts sugar packet that I have kept with me since the day that my grandmother passed away: “Of all the resources available, time is the most precious. Use it wisely.” I think that blogging is helping me to follow this.
Let’s all look to manage this resource well.
